This book in Hungarian is my story of how I became an American. It starts with my first stay in 1972 with the Brickley family from South Bend, Indiana, through my final immigration in February 1984.
That May, I applied and received a full GA stipend and completed my first MA in 1986, and started teaching as Adjunct in the Prep division of MSU. Later I started playing keyboards in POP bands. That got me into local community Access TV, where I got so interested in TV production, that I went for my second MA which I received in 1996 and immediately applied for Foreign PRESS accreditation from the Department of State.
With that on my chest, I met and interviewed shakers and movers such as: George Pataki, Richard Hallbrook, his wife Kati Marton, Hungarian Consul General Istvan Kovacs, Jim Marshall, Ace Frehley, Les Paul, just to name a few. Some of the stories ended up on DUNA TV, some in Hungarian publications in Europe and some ended up in this book.
In 1997 I issued my first solo CD of original stage and film music and in 2009 I sent a original short to Cannes. In the meantime I ran a Cable Community Access TV studio on Staten Island, NY, and later travelled the world editing and teaching editing and color grading on AVID Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro and BlackMagic DaVinci Resolve. Currently producing music videos and short stories about simple but hard working immigrants, their struggle and how some DID, or due to tragic circumstances, how some DID NOT make it in the new world.
My next book will be in English and about people - not only Hungarians - that I met, worked with and interacted as we human usually do. Sitting around a table, talking about life, family and other important topics. It will be titled LIVING in AMERIKA. Look for it!
